The BJP will gherao Assam Assembly on December 9 demanding removal of Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi for his alleged comment on Hindi-speaking persons leading the party.
"We are going to gherao the Assembly on December 9 against the chief minister's statement. We will demand his removal from the post," BJP Election Management Committee Convenor Himanta Biswa Sarma told reporters here.
Sarma said Gogoi's reported comment that "the state unit of BJP is led by Hindi-speaking people" is divisive in nature and it should be opposed by all sections of the society.
"He (Gogoi) is trying to divide the society on the basis of language. It is the most divisive and most intolerant language used by the chief minister," Sarma said.
BJP General Secretary Ram Madhav also alleged that the Congress is trying to divide people along religious and linguistic lines.
BJP, during the day, also announced formation of two committees in the state keeping in view the state Assembly polls slated for next year.

The BJP leader also criticied the Congress-ruled state government for alleged "lack of development" in the state despite being in power for 15 years.
"Gogoi is responsible for Assam's present condition. He does not know how to run a state. Give us the state and we will show them how to run it," Madhav added.
