The party also steered clear of conversial politician D P Yadav sharing the stage with BJP Chief Amit Shah at a poll rally in Ambala yesterday.
On what the party was doing against convicted Chautala participating in the poll campaign, BJP Vice President Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said, "We will talk to the Election Commission in this matter. According to the rules, a person who has been jailed cannot campaign. If he is campaigning, it is unlawful and wrong. It is against the rules of elections, the Election Commission and violates the model code."
Asked about how he reached the meeting and shared the stage, he said the party is ascertaining that.
"He was not invited for the meeting and was neither part of it. The matter ends there," the BJP leader said.
There have been reports of former Haryana Chief Minister Chautala addressing a poll rally in Jind and planning to hold another such rally where leaders of various political parties have been invited.
