Warning Pakistan that India will respond to it in its own language, BJP said yesterday's protest in Kashmir were part of a conspiracy to hamper the Centre's measures to rehabilitate exiled Kashmiri Pandit community in the Valley and grant rights to refugees from West Pakistan settled in the state.
"We strongly condemn Pakistan for its support to anti-India activities in the Valley. We won't tolerate it. Our government is committed to rehabilitation of Kashmiri Pandit and empowerment of refugees from western Pakistan," BJP national secretary Shrikant Sharma said.
Pakistan today said people waving its national flag on the streets of Srinagar is the "manifestation of deep and lasting emotional bonds" between the Kashmiris and the Pakistanis.
Reacting to pro-Pakistan slogans and flags being waved at a rally addressed by hardliner Syed Ali Shah Geelani against whom an FIR was registered for "unlawful" activity, Foreign Office spokesperson Tasnim Aslam said it was a regrettable move.
"What we witnessed yesterday on the streets of Srinagar is the manifestation of the deep and lasting emotional bonds between the people of Kashmir and the people of Pakistan," she said in response to a question.
