Taking serious note of public statements by a rebel leader, BJP today warned that action would be initiated at a suitable time.
Referring to four-time former MP Bacchi Singh Rawat's voicing of displeasure over dropping of his name from list of probables for a Lok Sabha seat, state BJP chief Tirath Singh Rawat said there was nothing wrong in being ambitious, but ambition should not go too far.
As long as nominees are not announced officially by the party, senior party leaders should refrain from making anti-party remarks, Tirath said in statement here.
If statements with the potential to harm the party are issued, proper action will be taken against leaders concerned at a suitable time, he warned.
Bacchi, a contender for Nainital Lok Sabha seat, recently resigned from all party posts alleging that his name was dropped "conspiratorially" from a list of probables for the seat sent by the state party chief to the party's central leadership in violation of party norms.
He had termed it as the result of a fixing game within the party at the state level.
