BJP workers and people from Kargil and Leh regions stranded here due to the closure of the Leh-Srinagar highway because of snowfall today held a demonstration here, demanding the government to airlift them to Ladakh.
The protest was held at the Kargil House.
The protesters led by BJP's state in-charge and former State General Secretary Sat Sharma accused the state and Central governments of having an apathetic attitude towards the stranded people.
Social activist Haji Aishan Ali also participated in the demonstration.
Sharma alleged the government had adopted a "step-motherly" treatment toward the people to "pressurise and blackmail their kin back home to vote for its party's candidates in the Lok Sabha elections as it has realised that they are no longer going to vote for NC-Congress alliance."
He said the NC-Congress coalition government had not only failed to address the problems of the people of Jammu region and Kashmir Valley, but also failed in respect of the Ladakh-Kargil region.
