Bhartiya Janata Yuva Morcha chief Poonam Mahajan today launched 51 legal aid centres to provide free advice to the poor, especially women.
The centres will be open on two Saturdays in a month, the BJP's youth wing said in a statement.
"Fifty-one legal aid centres were launched across the country. Thousands of lawyers have volunteered to give legal aid to the poor, especially women, on two Saturdays in a month," BJYM spokesperson Shivam Chhabra said.
Mahajan, a Lok Sabha member, launched the service via video-conferencing from Mumbai. The BJP's general secretary (organisation), Ram Lal, was the chief guest at the event here.
The Modi government is committed to empowering women and the BJYM's legal aid centres will help them protect their rights, Lal said.
