"I have sent a letter to Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav stating that if Uttar Pradesh government fails to provide good price for sugarcane, BKU will be staging a blockade in the state tomorrow," BKU Chief Naresh Tikait said.
He demanded that the minimum support price of sugarcane should be fixed at Rs 350 per quintal by the government.
The price announced by the government is not acceptable to the farmers as it favors sugar mill owners, Tikait said, adding that the prices were not increased as their was pressure from the sugar mill owners.
