Marketmen said pick-up in demand from local parties, against restricted arrivals from growing regions, mainly pushed up black pepper and cardamom prices.
Black pepper prices rose by Rs.10 to settle at Rs.550-680 per kilo.
Cardamom brown jundiwali and Kanchicut prices too rose to Rs.1,000-1,100 and Rs.1,150-1,275 from Rs.1,000-1,090 and Rs.1,150-1,270 per kilo.
Following were today's quotations per quintal:
Ajwain 13,500-18,500, black pepper (per kg) 550-680, betel-nut (kg) 180-200, cardamom brown-Jhundiwali (kg) 1,000-1,100 and cardamom brown-Kanchicut (kg) 1,150-1,275.
Cardamom small (kg): Chitridar 650-750, cardamom (colour robin) 600-700, cardamom bold 650-700, cardamom extra (bold) 800-900 and cloves (kg) 855-925.
