Black pepper declines on lower demand, copra steady

Black pepper prices decline in an otherwise lacklustre spices market here today due to stockists selling amidst lower demand from retailers as well as exporters.
However, rest all other spices ruled steady in the absence of any worthwhile buying.
Black pepper fell by Rs 20 per kg to Rs 365/420 from last Friday's closing level of Rs 385/420.
Following are today's closing rates in Rs with previous rates in brackets:
Black pepper (per kg) 365/420 (385/420),ginger bleached (per kg) 140 (140), ginger unbleached (per kg) 150 (150), copra office Alapuzha (per quintal) 4,550 (4,550), copra office Kozhikode (per quintal) 4,475 (4,475), copra Rajapur Mumbai (per quintal) 5,900 (5,900) Copra edible Mumbai (per quintal) 5,500 (5,500).
