Black pepper firms up sustained demand

Black pepper continued to firm-up at the spices market here today on sustained retail demand amidst restricted arrivals from key producing regions.
While, ginger and copra prices maintained a steady trend in the absence of large-scale buying activity.
Black pepper gained by Rs 5/5 per kg to Rs 480/515 from Monday's closing level of Rs 475/511.
Following are today's closing rates in Rs with previous rates in brackets:
Black pepper (per kg) 480/515 (475/511), ginger bleached (per kg) 175 (175), ginger unbleached (per kg) 185 (185), copra office Alapuzha (per quintal) 6,900 (6,900), copra office Kozhikode (per quintal) 6,800 (6,800), copra Rajapur Mumbai (per quintal) 8,600 (8,600) Copra edible Mumbai (per quintal) 8,000 (8,000).
