Hisar in Haryana was the hottest place in the two states, recording a high of 44.5 degrees Celsius, which was four notches above normal, the MeT Department report said here.
Bhiwani also sizzled at 43.4 degrees, up three notches, while Ambala's high settled at 41.8 degrees, four degrees above normal.
It was a hot day at Karnal, where the residents sweated it out at 42.2 degrees, three notches above normal.
Chandigarh today recorded season's hottest day so far at 42.3 degrees, four notches above normal.
The state's industrial town Ludhiana also braved a hot day at 42.2 degrees, up three notches, while Patiala's maximum settled at 42 degrees, also up by three degrees.
No relief from intense heat wave has been forecast by the MeT until tomorrow.
