The Krishna River Management Board that met for the second day here today could not come up with any decision on utilisation of water in river Krishna even as the two warring states - Andhra Pradesh and Telangana - remained adamant on their respective stands.
Board Chairman S K G Pandit suggested that Principal Secretaries of Irrigation of the two states "may try to resolve the issues amicably" in the light of the discussions held at today's meeting.
Irrigation Principal Secretaries of AP and Telangana, Aditya Nath Das and S K Joshi attended the meeting chaired by Pandit and other top officials at Jala Soudha here. Telangana's irrigation advisor Vidyasagar Rao also attended the meeting.
The Telangana government reportedly did not agree to the Board's proposal for utilisation of three tmc ft of water at Srisailam for power generation and said it would communicate its stand later.
As such the Board meeting remained inconclusive.
A release from the Board said the meeting was held in a "very amicable and cordial atmosphere" wherein views, on water and power requirements, of representatives of both states were heard.
"The data requirement and need for analysis of such data for development and management of water resources in the river basis was also discussed. After hearing the views of both sides, the Board will convey its view point shortly," the release added.
