The mishap took place as an overloaded country-made boat ferrying about 40 to 50 people on way to the riverine area in Vaishali district capsized in the river after colliding with another sand-laden boat, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) of Patna Manu Maharaj said.

Meanwhile, local people alleged that at least two occupants of the ill-fated boat have been drowned.
