The man and the woman whose bodies were found on railway track near southwest Delhi's Shahbad Mohammadpur village yesterday turned out to be relatives, both residents of Haryana who are suspected to have run away from homes, police said.
The deceased persons, aged in their early 20s, are suspected to be in a relationship, which their families opposed as they were uncle and niece by relation. Their families were questioned today once the identities were ascertained, a police official said.
Bodies of the two were found yesterday. From preliminary investigation, it appears that they committed suicide together by coming in front of a speeding train although no suicide note was recovered from the spot, the official said.
While the head of the deceased man was found severed from the body, the woman's body had multiple injuries, including a deep wound on the head.
