Bodies of 2 criminals recovered, murder suspected

Bodies of two alleged criminals, including one who was externed, were recovered in a decomposed state from a remote Ghat area of the city, with police suspecting that they were murdered.
Upon receiving information about two bodies lying near Jawahar Road in Torangan ghat area of Trimbakeshwar a police team recovered those yesterday. The bodies were in a decomposed state, he said.
The deceased have been identified as Arjun Mahesh Avhad (26), who was a resident of Satpur and externed by the City Police and Nikhil Vilas Gawali (23), a resident of Panchvati locality here, said D R Patil Inspector of Trimbakeshwar police station said.
Avhad was identified from an identity card found in his pocket, Gawali was identified by his brother from a tattoo on his hand, he said.
It is suspected that Avhad and Gawali who had cases registered against them at Satpur and Panchvati police stations respectively were murdered and their bodies thrown in the ghat, Patil said.
Post-mortem and the forensic report would reveal more details about the deceased, he added.
