Bodies of two minor brothers who were missing for one and a half months have been recovered from a drain in Jaunpur village in Kanpur Dehat district, police said today.
The deceased minors, Arjun (15) and Sanjay (17) went missing on October 25. Yesterday, when their father Naresh was grazing their goats in the factory area here, one of the goats fell into a drain, a police spokesman said.
When Naresh went to fetch the goat from drain, he noticed two bodies lying there, one of which was bare while the other was packed in a sack. He recognised the minors from their clothes and a bangle in their hands, police said.
However, when police came to take the bodies in their possession, the villagers created a ruckus.
Naresh has alleged that he had informed the police about the missing brothers on October 29 but police had refused to file a missing complaint saying the minors would have gone somewhere on their own and will come back soon.
"Following the allegation, Jaunpur police station in-charge, Man Singh has been suspended for not taking any action," SP Kripa Shankar said.
Police has sent the bodies for post mortem. The father has expressed doubt against four people in his statement and police is hunting for them, the spokesman said.
