Bodies of two submarine mishap victims brought home

The bodies of two Keralite sailors, who died in the submarine mishap at Mumbai, were brought here today and taken to their native places.
Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, Health Minister V S Sivakumar and MLAs were present at the airport to receive the bodies. Naval officers accorded a guard of honour to the two victims as a mark of respect.
The bodies of Biju Lawrence and Vishnu Viswambharan were identified through forensic examination at Mumbai. The bodies, which were kept in the mortuary of J J Hospital in Mumbai, were handed over to relatives at a special ceremony attended by Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan.
Biju's body was taken to his hometown Neyyattinkara in the capital district, while the body of Vishnu was taken to his home at Haripad in Alappuzha district.
Biju and Vishnu were two among the four Keralites out of 18 sailors who died when submarine Sindurakshak exploded and sank off Mumbai coast on August 14.
