The incident came to light yesterday when some children playing near the well spotted the body in the well and informed the locals.
The girl, a resident of Shastri Nagar, went missing on Thursday night when she had gone to attend a birthday party at her relative's home nearby. She did not return till late night and her parents thought that she might have stayed at the relative's place, police said.
Yesterday, her body was found in the well, the police said.
Medical examination suggested that the girl was raped and strangulated before she was thrown into the well.
