Some locals and attendants of patients spotted the body,Kendrapara police station inspector Pramod Kumar Lenka said.
Later police retrieved the body and a case was registered.
The child delivery register at the gynaecology and maternity ward of the hospital is being examined to trace the parents of the baby girl, he said.
