Body of woman found in bag on city outskirts

Body of a young woman was found in a travel bag with apparent signs of strangulation, at Kharadi bypass on the city outskirts, police said.
Citizens who spotted the unclaimed bag last evening near a parcel weighing machine at a municipal check post, alerted the police, who then summoned a bomb detection squad to check for possible explosives kept in the bag.
But, when the bag was opened, the body of a woman apparently aged between 17 to 25, was found with signs of strangulation and scratches around the neck, according to Yeravada police, who are probing the case.
The body was yet to be identified and exact cause of the death of the woman, clad in black jeans and a white top, could be ascertained only after an autopsy report, he said.

A check was being carried out with all police stations in and around the city to know if any missing person complaint had been filed, matching the description of the deceased, police added.
