Body of woman recovered from Chambal river

The body of a 22-year-old woman was recovered from the Chambal river in Kishorepura police station area of the city.
The woman had allegedly jumped into the river on Monday and her ID card and handbag were found on the banks of the river in Mojibaba Ghat area and a rescue operation was started.
The body of 22-year-old Kanika Jain, a Science Masters student and resident of Mahaveer Nagar area, was recovered from deep waters of Chambal river, said Ghanshyam Meena, SHO at Kishorepura police station.
The woman had allegedly jumped into the river on Monday and her handbag and IDs were found nearby following which the rescue teams were deployed for the search operation, he said.
The body was handed over to the family members after postmortem and further investigation in the matter is on.
The deceased was disabled and was also suffering from some disease, he said, adding, after she went missing, a report was lodged in Mahaveernagar police station.
