Bohra community delegation meets PM

During the meeting, the Prime Minister appreciated the social reform efforts of the community

A 10-member delegation from the Dawoodi Bohra community led by their religious head Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi at New Delhi on Friday.

During the meeting, the Prime Minister appreciated the social reform efforts of the community and urged it to work towards construction of toilets in the villages along the banks of the River Ganga, an official statement said.

The Prime Minister said the Union government fully support these initiatives, it said.

Modi also appreciated the progress made by the community, in the development of the Bhendi Bazaar area of Mumbai as a smart city.

Dawoodi Bohras are a sect within the Ismailism branch of Shia Islam. Bohras mainly reside in the western cities of India and also in Pakistan, Yemen and East Africa.
