Bollywood designer Manish Malhotra now attempts jewelery

Top fashion designer Manish Malhotra, who has dressed up leading Bollywood celebrities in the best of costumes, has attempted designing jewelery.
Previously, Malhotra has designed clothes for top Bollywood celebrities like Kajol, Sharukh Khan, Madhuri Dixit, Deepika Padukone and others and had recently even designed Kareena Kapoor's wedding outfit.
The designer has now tied up with Forevermark, the diamond brand from the De Beers Group, for its new collection.
A pair of chandelier earrings, featuring 56 diamonds is what Malhotra has designed. The 47-year-old designer says with this endeavour he intends to "showcase the heritage and culture of India on a global platform."
"I had lots of opportunities and offers to associate myself with lots of jewelry brands and do a jewelry line. I want to make my point up there in global arena of something that's Indian yet modern," says Malhotra.
The diamonds, says the designer have been inspired by an old chandelier.

"I had a princess from the 1930s in mind while designing this piece. She is Indian and loves tradition and could have been educated may be abroad, she wears the piece in her own way which is traditional yet modern," says Malhotra.
The piece, says the designer took two months to come to fruition, and features a total of 2518 diamonds weighing 49.02 carats and were set in 91.03 grams of 18 carat rose gold.
"I think this piece is heritage. Lots of people want to wear something which is unique," says Malhotra who says he has not made up his mind on starting an exclusive jewelery line.
"As an Indian designer it's my prerogative to explore our culture and heritage and my promise is to promote the rich traditions of art and design in our country. By designing this piece of jewelery, I want to mark another milestone in the world of design, keeping my promise alive," Malhotra told PTI.
Like Malhotra other fellow designers from the industry have not only tried their hand in jewelry designing but also apparel for children, mobile software or even alcohol bottles.
Raghavendra Rathore known for his Brand India image which copyrighted designs for Bandgala Jackets and Jodhpurs is known for diversifying his business into interior design, jewelry and designing software for iphone.
Another veteran designer from the industry Manish Arora, has collaborated with brands like Reebok, MAC, Swarovski and Absolut Vodka and has created eclectic designs for gift boxes for snacks brand 'Kurkure'.
