Bollywood stars pay tribute to Deven Varma

Bollywood celebrities Karan Johar, Aamir Khan and Anushka Sharma remembered funnyman Deven Varma as a great performer and someone whose "impeccable comic timing" is unmatched even today.
The 'Angoor' star passed away this morning following a heart attack. Aamir, who worked with Varma in 'Andaz Apna Apna', said the actor was a wonderful co-star.
"I am saddened to hear about the demise of Devenji. He was a wonderful co-star. I remember on the sets of Andaaz Apna Apna he always had a joke on his lips and kept us all in high spirits. My heartfelt condolences to his family," Aamir said in a statement.

Varma, 78, is known for his memorable roles in films like 'Chor Ke Ghar Chor', Sanjeev Kapoor-starrer 'Angoor', 'Gol Maal', 'Khatta Meetha', 'Naastik', 'Rang Birangi', 'Dil', 'Judaai', 'Andaz Apna Apna' and 'Dil Toh Pagal Hai'.
Director-producer Karan Johar said Varma was one of a kind.
"RIP Deven Verma... Your straight-faced impeccable comic timing still doesn't have a successor," Johar tweeted.

"Deven Verma - incredible actor, comic excellence second to none. Thank you for making my childhood so memorable. Will miss you sir- RIP," Deshmukh wrote on his Twitter page.
Anushka, while recalling her favourite moment from Varma's 'Andaz Apna Apna', wrote, "RIP Deven Verma... How much I love his scene in 'Andaz Apna Apna' 'Main betiyon ko chudiyaan pehnaoonga...Aap ma ko'."

"Sad to hear that the great Deven Verma ji passed away. My heartfelt condolences to his family...RIP," tweeted Bajpayee.
'Fashion' director Madhur Bhandarkar, said, "Sad to hear Deven Varma-ji has passed away. A breakthrough humorist & baadshah of subtle comic timing, he made comedy look classy. RIP, Sir."
Filmmaker Meghna Gulzar, daughter of noted poet-filmmaker Gulzar, who directed Deven in 'Angoor', tweeted, "Alvida Bahadur. Watching you eat the bhaang pakodas was delectable. RIP Deven Varma Sir."
"RIP Deven Varma Ji, I grew up on your performances!" said actor Tusshar Kapoor.
