Melody queen Lata mangeshkat tweeted a line of her famous patriotic song 'Ae mere watan ke logon'. "Swatantra Diwas par aap sab ko bahut-bahut shubhkamnayein. Jo shaheed hue hai unki, zara yaad karo qurbani (Happy Independence Day to all! Let's remember the scarifices made by the martyrs on this day)," tweeted Mangeshkar.
Megastar Amitabh Bachchan posted, "Happy Independence Day... India breathed freely on the 15th of August 1947... In remembrance of those that fought and sacrificed!"
"Happy Independence Day! Let us take a moment out to remember the people who struggled fearlessly to give us this day. And a promise to do our bit for our country! Jai hind!," tweeted Bipasha Basu.
Other celebrities urged people to be fearless and fight for their rights.
