A bomb scare call to IT major Infosys in Mangalore that sent the police and employees into a tizzy turned out to be hoax today.
"We have verified the complaint that we received from Infosys office regarding the bomb threat call. It has turned out to be a false call," Assistant Commissioner of Police Mangalore Kavita BT told PTI.
"We have been able to trace out that the call was made by a resident; investigation is on to find out the intention of the caller," she added.
Confirming that the call was hoax, an Infosys spokesperson said "we had received bomb threat call, police has investigated and declared it to be hoax; campus was evacuated soon after receiving the call, but now things are back to normal."
Infosys campus at Kottara in Mangalore earlier in the afternoon had received a bomb scare from an anonymous caller, following which bomb disposal and dog squads with police personnel were deployed to comb the entire area.
