Bomkesh the flavor of the season: Konkona

Describing Bomkesh as the flavour of the season, actor Konkona Sen Sharma says she was stunned to know four Bomkesh films were in pre post-production phases including the Bollywood flick by Dibakar Banerjee.
"But one thing is clear. The Bengali works will retain more sensibilities - characteristic traits of of Bengal including the upcoming Sajarur Kanta, which has references to group theatre as I portray a stage actor of that era who also plays an important role in the unraveling of plots," Konkona told PTI about the prime female character Deepa in the Saradindu Bandyopadhyay crime thriller.
And I agree with the director Saibal Mitra's logic that a more elderly Bomkesh fits in the bill more convincingly as the director said, the Bomkesh of an elder age, is more true to the story," the Mr and Mrs Iyer actor told PTI here.

"This is like several Bhagat Singh films happening in Bollywood around the same time few years back. It happens and audience is the arbiter," she said.
Agreeing that Sajarur Kanta is more technically and thematically akin to the Ray classic Chirikhana, Konkona said, "Many things have been adapted by imparting contemporary touch to the story line including the references to theatre movement. But what I liked is his own pace of directing."
"Me and Indraneil (Sengupta) have teamed up together for the first time in a film and he has given an intense performance. And what I can say about Dhritiman uncle! He is too good as usual," Konkona said.

"This is going to be Indraneil's best performance in recent times. And I hope people will remember Dhritimanda more than any other Bomkesh," she said.
Sajaruru Kanta, produced by Macneill Media Pvt Ltd, also casts Pradip Mukherjee and Sonali Gupta as the fictional icons Ajit and Satyabati.
