Bonn rolls out bread, bakery with no added preservatives

Ludhiana based Bonn Group today launched bread and bakery items with no added preservatives and positioned them as healthy products.

Bonn Group has unveiled a new product line 'La Americana Gourmet', comprising range of breads, biscuits and cakes.

"In these products, there are no added preservatives and despite that we are maintaining the same shelf life. We are using natural ingredients in these products. We are taking care of health, taste and wellness," Bonn Group COO Pankaj Aggarwal said.

These products are in premium category, he added.

"This range is a combination of taste and healthy experience. Today's consumer is more exposed to healthy imperatives than their predecessors and, hence, there is greater consciousness for health and wellbeing," said Amrinder Singh, Director, Bonn Group.

The company has also planned to expand its footprint in southern region by setting up a plant there as it seeks to clock turnover of Rs 1,500 crore in next five years.

Last fiscal, the company clocked sales of Rs 600 crore, the COO said.

The company will soon have presence in southern market with a new plant coming up in Mysore, Aggarwal said.

"It will cater to four states-Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Telangana," he added.

Another plant will also come up at Sonipat in Haryana in next two months which will primarily cater to Delhi and adjoining markets, said Amrinder.

Bonn group has installed capacity of 11 lakh loaves per day with 11 units in Punjab and Delhi.

In addition to it, Aggarwal said "We are looking at setting up plant in all metros".

"We are growing between 30 to 40 per cent per annum as against the 10 to 15 per cent industry growth of bread and biscuits," said Aggarwal.
