A new book replete with anecdotes and stories offers simple and smart strategies to young professionals to fast-track success.
"Navigating the Maze: Simpler, Smarter Strategies to Fast-track Success" by Bharat Wakhlu and Savita Bhan Wakhlu seeks to work as a navigator to guide professionals seamlessly through the life and career maze with both a micro and macro view of every issue.
The authors, who have a cumulative experience of over five decades in coaching and mentoring, say the book recognises that today's generation (the IGen) comprises impatient digital natives, who pride in their individuality and doing things 'their way'.
"This book acknowledges and appreciates these traits, and builds up on them. It equips this generation with the self- knowledge and the skills and competencies that help all readers joyfully traverse the challenges and opportunities that they face in a changing world," they say.
The book focuses on three critical ideas: self-mastery, interpersonal excellence and the world of work. Introducing the right skills and capabilities in these three important areas of life, youngsters are primed for fast-tracking success.
These themes comprise the first three chapters in part one of the book, published by Sage. Part two consists of questions germane to the theme of the book. They cover secondary but significant facets of personal performance and effectiveness.
E Sreedharan, principal adviser to Delhi Metro Rail Corporation, in the foreword writes that this book fills a long-felt vacuum generally experienced by struggling professionals, whether they are fresh from college or with some experience in middle or senior managerial levels.
"This book is a complete answer to the troubled minds enabling them to adorn virtues such as characteral excellence, behavioural majesty and interactional elegance," the 'metro man' writes.
