Ramesh Vyas, believed to be one of the main man in the bookies' world having links with the underworld, is being brought here from Mumbai tomorrow.
A team of Mumbai Police is bringing Vyas, who was earlier arrested by Mumbai Crime Branch in connection with betting, after the city police got a production warrant.
"Vyas is being brought to the capital in a train. They have started this evening and are expected to reach tomorrow. Around half-a-dozen security personnel are accompanying him," a senior police official said.
Exposing a turf war between Mumbai and Delhi Police on the spot-fixing case, Delhi Police sources claimed that they have been trying to take custody of Vyas who was lodged in Arthur Jail Road for the past three days but could not as their counterparts raised procedural issues.
According to the claims of Delhi Police, the jail authorities refused to hand over the custody. They also insisted that their security personnel will bring him to Delhi.
"We had sent our security team there. But we acceded to their demand and let their security team bring Vyas here," a senior official said.
The official alleged that Vyas handled the operations of bookies for underworld in south while Ashwani Aggarwal alias Tinku Mandi handled north India operations.
