"The families have been residing between the fence and the zero line after fencing work was completed a few years ago. Since they are facing a lot of problems for the topographical position, their rehabilatation is necessary," Cachar Deputy Commissioner Harendra Kumar Dev Mahanta told PTI.
Fencing was mandated to be made 150 metres away from the zero line (actual border), he said.
The district administration had spotted land in Jalalpur area of Cachar district where plans were afoot to resettle the families, Mahanta said.
The district land advisory committee had accorded its green signal about the proposed settlement on the land. After some official process they would be shifted to the new place from the Indo-Bangla border area, the DC said.
