Criticising both Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and Opposition leader Vasundhara Raje, CPI(M) Politburo member Brinda Karat today said neither raised issues of public interest in past four and half years when Rajasthan witnesses nearly 55 incidents of communal violence.
In past four and half years, 55 communal incidents took place in Rajasthan where Chief Minister Gehlot was maintaining a studied silence and Raje did not pick up any public issue, Karat said while addressing a joint meeting of five political parties under the banner of Rajasthan Loktantrik Morcha (RLM).
When the Assembly polls are around, Raje is crisscrossing the state with Suraj Sankalp Yatra and Gehlot with his Sandesh Yatra, she said.
In the previous BJP government led by Raje, more than 100 times farmers were cane charged and people were killed in firing, Karat alleged and said, both Congress and BJP are same.
Dalits are still not allowed into temples and atrocities against women are on the rise, she said.
Accusing the two parties of using corporate houses to eliminate those who protested and raised their voice against them, Karat said corruption had crossed all limits in the state.
"On the eve of polls, the Food Security Bill was being brought which was not meant to remove hunger...Every one knows why the bill came as an Ordinance," she stressed.
Exhorting upon partners of RLM which is comprised of CPI, CPI(M), JD(S), JD(U) and Samajwadi Party, she said, "We all have to jointly contest the Assembly polls in Rajasthan to provide alternative policies to public.
