Boy crushed to death on way to Saraswati idol immersion

The eight-year-old boy, who was crushed to death by a tempo yesterday, was going with his sister to witness immersion of Saraswati idol when the incident took place in southwest Delhi's Dwarka area, police said today.
The tempo driver, Hari Prasad, who had fled the spot after hitting Ankush Kumar, was later traced and arrested.
Ankush's family told police that the incident took place around 9:15 PM soon after Ankush had stepped out of his home with his sister.
The child's head was completely crushed in the impact of the accident.
Ankush was rushed to a hospital where he was declared dead on arrival.
Ankush was a student of Class I at MBD School. His father Ram Kishore is a driver. The family hails from Begusarai in Bihar.
Police said the Eicher tempo was being driven rashly it was being probed whether the driver was under the influence of alcohol.
