A 12-year-old boy died after he fell from the roof of a government school in Trilokkuri area of east Delhi while flying kite, even as his parents alleged negligence on the part of school authorities, police said today.
Sahil, a student of class VI, fell from the roof of the building while flying kite along with his friends on August 17. He was rushed to LBS Hospital in a critical condition where he succumbed to injuries the next day, a police officer said.
During investigation it was learnt that the boy did not attend the classes that day and was flying kite after the school was over, police said.
"We are investigating the case covering allegations of negligence on the part of the school authorities by the boy's parents," the officer said.
His parents have alleged that the roof of the school building did not have a wall. Construction work is going on in the school premises and children were freely coming and going out. It is not known under what circumstances Sahil reached the roof of the school and fell, police added.
