BP raises petrol prices at select fuel stations

Oil PSU Bharat Petroleum (BP) has raised petrol prices by almost 12 paise a litre at select fuel pumps here designated as platinum outlets.
With revision, the petrol price has increased to Rs 65.27 per litre with effect from November 20 at BP's two fuel stations here as against the earlier rate of Rs 65.15/litre.
"The prices have been increased at our two platinum ROs (Retail Outlets) at Sector 21 and Sector 4 because of services being offered there," an official of BP said today.
The services include SMS to customers after transaction, clean toilet, fully functional lights, CCTVs with recording facility, improved ambience and extra manpower to attend to customers.

There is no change in price of diesel at these outlets, the official said.
The scheme of Platinum Outlets, BP sources said, had been introduced at 27 Retail Outlets in North India including at Chandigarh, Delhi, Jaipur and Ludhiana where the petrol prices are around 15 paise more than other retail outlets.

After BP raising petrol prices, its competitor Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) has put up banners outside its own fuel stations, informing customers that its petrol was cheaper than that available at other than IOC pumps.
IOC is selling petrol at Rs 65.11 per litre in the city which is 16 paise a litre cheaper than petrol being sold by the select BP outlets.

"Our petrol is now cheaper by 16 paise a litre as compared to petrol being sold by BP fuel station," said an owner of IOC fuel station at Sector 21 adjacent to the Platinum BP outlet.
