Air India were looking for an outside chance with four points in their kitty from three matches and a loss in the five team Group A but it was a nightmare for them as BPCL maintained a constant attacking game and controlled the proceedings effciently.
Air India were able to hold BPCL for 18 minutes before SV Sunil (19th, 24th minutes) struck twice.
Veteran Sher Singh then completely the tally in the 66th minute to hand BPCL the resounding win.
With two wins out of as many games, defending champions Indian Oil Corporation and BPCL have the brightest chances of progressing to the semi-finals.
Air India have completed their engagements with a win and a draw and lost two matches, Tamil Nadu have won two and lost one but it would be a Herculean task for the hosts to beat the best of BPCL in their last Group A match, while Mumbai have lost all their three games and have a match against IOC.
