The meeting which was organised by state Water Resource Department (WRD) was attended by all the members of North Eastern states and chaired by K Yadav, Chairman and N Kumar, Commissioner of the Board, official sources said.
The Board has been undertaking detailed planning and documentation of the enormous water resources of the region and related problems and potential which includes preparation of master plan, survey, investigation and preparation of detailed project reports of the multi-purpose projects and of the drainage in congested areas and Anti-erosion schemes.
The board is also giving importance to development and utilization of water resources of the Brahmaputra and Barak Valleys for hydro power, navigation, and other beneficial purposes.
Its assignment also includes preparation of detailed project reports of the Dams and other projects identified in Master plan as approved by the Centre and to take up construction and maintenance of the projects and works connected therewith as proposed in the Master Plan.
WRD Chief Engineer L Angu highlighted the problems and issues pertaining to the floods and erosions in the state, the sources said.
