About 125 scientists attended the session with the theme of "crop improvement and seed production of onion" being held at HRDF in Chitegaon.
N K Krishnakumar, DDG (Horticulture), Indian Council of Agriculture Research (ICAR) also underlined the need to develop varieties which have a high-yield potential and are also disease and pest-resistant.
G. Kallo, Ex-DDG (Horticulture), ICAR and ex-VC, JNKVV, Jabalpur was the chief guest on the occasion.
He said the seed dynamics and plant population dynamics also have important role in determining the yield potential.
Two publications 'onion calendar' and souvenir of the brainstorming session were released on the occasion.
