Expressing her support for young upcoming poets and performing artistes, elocutionist Bratoti Bandyopadhyay today said the new generation are more fresh, innovative and contemporary in their approach.
"I am simply bowled over by the out-of--box way she has built the bridge between different genres of poetry to portray womanhood, a girl's quest for identity travelling through different genres of poems - from the bard of bengal to Krishna Basu. There had not been such an effort earlier," Bratoti told PTI at the album launch 'Aparajito' by Bristi.
"And I would wish audiences cutting across genders to listen to her renditions. I must term it as truly non-conformist thinking even if she has limitations as a first-timer," Bratoti said.
Bratoti, who would be bringing out her recitation album on Tagore poems on his death anniversary Baishe Srabon, this year, said "Tagore was a feminist but it would be grossly unfair to thrust one label on him.
"He was versatile and a multi-farious personality whose thousands of works reflect each and every mood of us and we keep revisiting him for every twist and turn in our lives."
"I have built a bridge between one Tagore poem Shubhakshan and others by more contemporary leading Bengali poets like Joy Goswami and Subodh Sarkar," young upcoming elocutionist Bristi said about the album Aparajita (the unvanquished lady).
Besides Shubhokshan, the album consists recitations of Ekla Meye (Krishna Basu), Lakshmi by Subodh sarkar and Krisnakoli Ajo by Subrata Paul.
"It has been our effort to consciously promote new initiatives in the domain of poetry, songs and films, The album reflects a story, the journey of a woman and her empowerment through ages," said Purnendu Roy of Orion Entertainments.
