Acknowledging her courageous act, Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Babulal Gaur, who visited the girl's residence today, said he would recommend her name for bravery award.
The brave heart, Charanpreet Kaur (21), was studying for her second-year engineering examinations on the second floor of their Ansal Pradhan enclave residence, when she heard some noise in the early hours yesterday.
She saw some masked men downstairs who had sneaked into their house.
While all her family members were asleep on the first floor, Charanpreet applied presence of mind and immediately whipped out an over 4-feet long sword from its sheath.

The robbers got scared seeing the sword in her hand and fled from there.
After the girl narrated the incident to Gaur, he patted her for the brave act and likened her to "Jhansi ki Rani."
The girl told Gaur how she chased away the robbers who had entered their house a little before dawn yesterday.
Gaur said he will recommend her name for bravery award and added that her story of courage will be carried in a magazine going to be brought out by his department shortly.
