The bridge, situated on Bagh river in Rajegaon here on Maharashtra-MP border, suffered damages and was submerged following heavy downpour earlier this week and release of water from dams, and is now rendered unsuitable for plying heavy traffic.
Cracks have developed at several places on the bridge which makes it risky for traffic movement.
Balaghat Collector V Kiran Gopal accompanied with other officials from the district yesterday inspected the deteriorating condition of the bridge and ordered its immediate repairs.
Gondia Collector Dr Amit Saini said since the bridge lies under the limits of Balaghat district, he will take up the issue with his counterpart there for its immediate repair and safety of commuters.
