Brief shower brings respite for Patnaites from sultry weather

Brief showers in the state capital this evening brought the much-needed respite for people from sultry weather conditions over the last several days.
High temperature coupled with intense humidity had increased discomfort level for citizens here for over a week.
Around 5 pm, Patna recorded rainfall of 18 mm while Purnea registered 9.2 mm, a MeT official said, adding, the rainfall figure was measured between 8:30 AM to 5 PM.
Capital city Patna recorded a maximum temperature of 40.2 degree Celsius and a minimum of 26.5 degrees Celsius, the MeT office said.
Humidity was 69 per cent in Patna in the morning which went upto 98 per cent in the evening after the rain, it said.
Gaya was the hottest place in the state today with maximum temperature recorded at 43.4 degrees Celsius while the minimum stod at 30.3 degrees Celsius. Humidity was 37 per cent in the morning while it was 46 per cent in the evening.

Bhagalpur registered maximum of 37.4 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 25.4 degrees Celsius. Humidity in Bhagalpur was recorded 68 per cent while it was 46 per cent in the evening.
Purnea recorded maximum temperature 33.3 degrees Celsius and minimum of 24.6 degrees Celsius.
Due to light rainfall, Purnea too had a high humidity at 76 per cent both in the morning and evening.
It would be a partly cloudy sky both in Patna and Gaya with maximum temperature expected to soar upto 40 degrees Celisus and 41 degree Celsisus there respectively, the weatherman said.
The MeT office, however, said that it will be cloudy sky with possibility of rainfall and thunderstorm in Bhagalpur.
