Bring back Tipu Sultan's ring from London: MP asks govt

A demand for steps by the government to bring back Tipu Sultan's ring, which was recently auctioned in London for Rs one crore, was raised in Rajya Sabha today.
Raising the demand through a Special Mention, Chaudhary Munawwar Saleem (SP) said that the ring has the name of Lord Rama inscribed over it and the country should get it back.
Members from several parties, including those from Congress and BJP associated with the demand.
Vijay Jawaharlal Darda (Congress) demanded that the government should expeditously provide a relief package to help the farmers of Vidarbha and Marathwada struck by a series of natural calamities.
D Bandhopadhyay (Trinamool Congress) sought steps to expedite the safe city projects in the country, particularly in Kolkata.
Tarun Vijay (BJP) demanded action for protection of world heritage sites and scriptures from destruction by religious extremists.

Earlier in Zero Hour, Bhupinder Singh (BJD) sought Rs 399.83 crore for Odisha to meet the expenses on repair and reconstruction works due to the damage caused by cyclone and severe floods.
"It is a genuine due to Odisha. Home Minister has already cleared it but the Expenditure Department is not," he said, adding that Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has written a number of times to the Centre on the issue.
He said after severe flood, Odisha faced Hudhud cyclone and huge money needs to be pumped in to make up for the losses in the state.
Members from Left parties, Trinamool Congress and other regional parties supported the BJD demand.
