Super 30 founder and mathematician Anand Kumar today appealed to young management graduates to bring about a "turnaround" in social sector of the country by utilising their expertise and talent which they have hitherto used for MNCs and corporates.
"In a country like India which has the rich demographic dividend, something no other country can boast of; the youth must come forward to take over the enormous responsibilities and challenges in the social sector," Kumar said at the 11th edition of the ISB Leadership Summit (ILS) at its Hyderabad Campus.
He was speaking on the topic 'Breaking the Myth' with focus on the theme 'Attracting Talent to the Social Sector'.
"India must not fritter away this opportunity. And India's enormous pool of talented management graduates have the recipe to make it possible and bring about a much needed turnaround in the social sector, something they have hitherto done for the multi-national companies and corporates," Kumar said.
Kumar stressed that talented youths could use their expertise to make India ready to face various future challenges.
"By 2020, India will become the youngest country, but to make this youthful energy count, the coming generation needs to be properly equipped with the knowledge, skill and wherewithal to pull out of poverty and illiteracy. That is what will give India the edge over others. And for this, talented youth will have to chip in," he said.
Maintaining that education alone has the power to make a lasting difference, Kumar cited the example of various government schemes like the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyaan (SSA), Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyaan (RMSA) and the new Rashtriya Uchchtar Shiksha Abhiyaan (RUSA), apart from numerous other measures.
