Brishen Patel appointed HAM(S)'s Bihar unit chief
Press Trust of India Patna Former Bihar minister Brishen Patel was today appointed as the state unit president of Hindustani Awam Morcha-Secular (HAM-S) by the party's national president Jitan Ram Manjhi.
Patel, a former education and transport minister in the Nitish Kumar government, has been made the new state unit president of HAM(S) by former chief minister Jitan Ram Manjhi in place of Shakuni Chaudhary, the party's spokesperson Ved Prakash said in a statement.
Chaudhary had resigned from the post taking moral responsibility for HAM's debacle in Assembly polls last month.
Prakash quoted Patel as saying that he would strive hard to expand the party's support base in Bihar.
It may be mentioned that Manjhi's party, a constituent of the NDA, had won only one seat out of 21 it had contested in the Assembly polls. Manji won the Imamganj (SC) assembly seat defeating JD(U) heavyweight and former speaker Uday Narayan Chaudhary.
