An eight-year-old girl was beaten to death by her British-Asian mother and her lesbian lover after the duo developed a bizarre relationship involving fictional characters, a UK court was told today.
Polly Chowdhury, 35, and Kiki Muddar, 43 - both British Asian - have been charged with the murder of Ayesha Ali, daughter of Chowdhury, who was found half-naked with more than 50 injuries in the womens' home here.
The little girl had extensive bruising to her face, body and limbs, carpet burns suggesting she had been dragged and a bite mark on her right shoulder, the Old Bailey court in London was told today.
"To say their relationship was unconventional is a gross understatement - it was complex and involved fictional characters," said prosecutor Richard Whittam.
The couple created characters called Jimmy Chowdhury and Skyman to "facilitate a sexual relationship".
Chowdhury and Ayesha's father Afsar Ali had undergone an Islamic marriage but separated in December 2012 after Muddar came to stay and on the second evening of her stay, Ali was told by his wife to sleep downstairs as "Kiki would be sleeping in our bed", the court was told.

In February 2013, the couple moved in together into the house in east London where Ayesha was to die six months later.
During the relationship, the two women exchanged thousands of text messages, Facebook entries and phone calls.
"In what I euphemistically referred to as their unconventional relationship, Muddar used a fictional character that she had created to facilitate a sexual relationship with Chowdhury," prosecutor Whittam told the court.
"That character was called Jimmy Chowdhury. He is a fiction, pieced together by Muddar. He existed only on Facebook and only communicated with Polly Chowdhury remotely through Facebook, by text or through Muddar herself," he added.
Among the thousands of texts exchanged between the couple were messages such as "You have no right to ever love or like your evil daughter", the jury was told.
In August, 2013, Muddar called up the emergency number to say that her lover had tried to kill herself and that Ayesha was dead.
Muddar and Chowdhury have pleaded not guilty to murdering Ayesha and also deny alternative charges of manslaughter and causing or allowing the death of a child between March and August, 2013 at the ongoing trial.
