A British businessman of Indian origin, named as an accused in a property-related cheating case here, against whom a Look Out Notice had been issued, has been arrested from south Mumbai.
Acting on a tip-off, officials of Economic Offences Wing of the Mumbai police found Nazir Mussa (63) at the Cricket Club of India (CCI) here yesterday.
"Subsequently, Mussa was placed under arrest. He was produced before a court today which remanded him in police custody till June 13," the official said.
An FIR was registered against Mussa, his relative Alnoor Jamal, who is an NRI, and others following a complaint by city-based developer Shobhit Rajan, who accused them of cheating him in a 1999 property deal involving a prime piece of land near the Airport.
Advocate Vibhav Krishna appeared for the complainant while Mussa was represented by advocate Mubin Solkar.
As the duo were not co-operating with the investigation, the EOW had issued Look Out Notices against the two last week.
