The British Council is keen to encourage greater student mobility and exchange of students between India and the UK to build deeper relationship, she said at a press conference.
"The UK welcomes all legitimate international students. More than 2.5 lakh Indians have studied in the UK during the last ten years," she said.
A seminar, titled 'the GREAT UK Education Seminar' would be held here tomorrow by the British Council to provide information on student life and culture for Indian students aspiring to study in the UK.
"With 401 scholarships this year and more than 750 scholarships during the last two years the Great Britain Scholarships-India 2015 is the largest ever scholarships programme offered to Indian students," he said. The scholarships were worth around 1.51 million pounds.
He said in addition to this, the UK would quadruple its funding for the Chevening scholarships for Indian students during the next two years "making India the largest recipient in the world at large."
