A major power discom in Delhi has undertaken over 1,000 internal safety audits and pledged to make 2015-16 an "accident-free" year.
BSES Rajdhani Power Ltd (BRPL) and BSES Yamuna Power Ltd (BYPL) employees took the pledge after observing a week-long 'Safety Week' here.
"During the week, safety audits were undertaken and employees who are directly in contact with wires, were given training on safety. Key safety messages were also highlighted," a statement said.
The safety week ended with an event which was attended by Delhi Labour Commissioner Satish Mathur and senior company executives, including BSES Director Gopal Saxena.
"BRPL and BYPL are conducting internal audit of all their equipment and installations to ensure that they are safe and do not pose any safety hazard. Over 1,000 internal safety audits have been conducted so far and over 120 unsafe conditions have been removed," it added.
BRPL and BYPL have also launched a 'Tool Box Talk' initiative for linesmen and other staff who are directly in contact with live wires, transformers and other equipment.
The company added that all past accidents are being investigated and reports and suggestions are being shared with all the employees to prevent recurrence of mishaps.
