BRPL & IRCON ink MoU for laying railway line in C'garh

State-owned NMDC Ltd today said that Bastar Railway Private Ltd (BRPL) and IRCON have signed a project execution agreement, under which the latter will construct a 140-km long railway line between Jagdalpur to Rawghat in Chattisgarh.
BRPL is a joint venture company formed by the NMDC Ltd, SAIL, IRCON and CMDC Ltd, with NMDC being the major shareholder with 43 per cent equity stake.
According to a press release issued by the miner, the railway line will have 13 new Railway stations and the estimated project cost of this Rail corridor is Rs 2,538 crore approximately.
A senior official of NMDC told PTI the project help manufacturers of Sponge iron transport their product through the railway line.
The PEA was signed in the presence of Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh.
"The first phase of land acquisition for the said Project has already started. The details of the proposed land of 101 km that falls under Bastar and Kondegaon, have already been sent to the Ministry of Railways for publication in the Gazette.

"The Chief Minister advised the concerned officials to complete the process of land acquisition and diversion of forest land within three months and to start the construction works by January 2018," the release said.

Subodh Kumar Singh, Secretary, Department of Mineral Resources, Chhattisgarh and Directors of BRPL D Alarmelmawgai, A K Mishra, Alok Kumar Mehta and V S Prabhakar, CEO, BRPL were also present on the occasion, it said.
